If your last "annual service" was under 25 minutes, you didn't get one. Proper manufacturer-spec service requires the front casing off, the flue gas analyser running, and a working-pressure check at the boiler test point. Here's the full checklist I work through on every service.

Skip a service, lose your warranty.
Worcester Bosch, Vaillant, Ideal, Baxi and Viessmann all require annual service by a Gas Safe registered engineer to keep their 7-12 year manufacturer warranties valid. Miss a service and you typically lose cover from that point — meaning a £600 heat exchanger failure in year 6 comes out of your pocket, not the manufacturer's.
Best month to service: August–October.
Three reasons to service before the cold weather hits: (1) any issue is found before you actually need the heating, (2) parts lead-times are short in summer (busy season for parts ordering is November onwards), and (3) my diary fills up by mid-October — getting in early means less waiting.

Does my warranty require an annual service?+
Yes — Worcester, Vaillant, Ideal, Baxi and Viessmann all require it. The service must be documented (digital or paper record) and shown in the manufacturer's online portal if you ever need to claim.
Can you service my boiler if I've missed a year?+
Yes. I'll service it as normal — but flag to you that the manufacturer warranty cover may be reduced from the lapse point. Worcester is generally pragmatic about a single missed year; multiple missed years usually voids cover.
